If we could hand pick a lady who embodies what a #girlboss is, Whitney Blake would be high up on that list. Whitney only graduated from college last year, but that didn’t stop her from starting her own graphic and web design business, having her office featured on Style Me Pretty, and creating fab content on her blog, Whit Speaks. Welcome, Whitney, to #Adorntheblog! Ready to get to know her? Here we go…
Why did you first start blogging? I first started blogging back in 2010 as my New Years resolution! My blog has completely evolved along with my life, following my journey through college and then being self-employed.
Can you tell us about any blog projects that you’re excited about for 2015? Yes! I’m definitely working on my photography skills so there will be a LOT of photo-heavy posts as I discover my style in photography. I’m so terrible at developing a skill and then trying to find a way to make money off of it (#girlbossproblems) so I’m really trying to focus on keeping photography as a hobby-only creative outlet!
Which bloggers or what blogs do you look to for blogging/style/beauty inspiration? I adore Jessica fromMy Style Vita‘s aesthetic and especially her home style and recipe posts, Cathy from Poor Little It Girl has incredible (budget friendly) style, and Suzanna from Noodoso kills it on the perfectly photographed lifestyle posts!
Describe your perfect day. I’m a workaholic so of course my perfect day is a work day 😉 I wake up, grab coffee and a bagel, get to office and tackle business emails/blog tasks. On a perfect day, I then spend the rest of the day completely inspired and knocking out a ton of client work with a trip to the gym mid day. After work, I’ll go grab dinner and drinks with my fiancé (we love tacos and margs!), then head home and read a bit before bed.
Coffee or tea? C O F F E E. How is this even a question?
What are your go-to pair of shoes? I love my Sole Society D’Orsay Flats and my Hush Puppies Wedges! Comfy and stylish!
Dream vacation spot? Tuscany (specifically Florence), eating pizza, drinking wine, and looking at art all day!
Savory or sweet? I have a dangerous sweet tooth!
Any advice for current bloggers who want to improve their content or traffic? Consistency is key, so pick a schedule (whether that be 1 day a week or 7) and stick to it! Also, make sure that you’re optimizing your content for Pinterest. That’s been my biggest traffic source and it’s how I got my content featured on Buzzfeed last year!
